This is the final itinerary for the Patriot Guard Riders Mission to Honor CLOIS EUGENE (GENE) BROOKS (96) UNITED STATES NAVY - WORLD WAR II DECEMBER 23, 2017 SATURDAY Born: 15 DECEMBER 1921 Died: 15 DECEMBER 2017 His family has requested that the PGR be present at his services. The Mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made. Clois Brooks passed away at home on December 15, 2017 on his 96th birthday. He was born December 15, 1921 in Moran, Texas to the late Sydney Eugene and Montie Oxley Brooks. He graduated from Moran high school in 1941 where he participated in many sports. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and proudly served his country until October 1945. He served on several ships in the South Pacific during World War II. He met the love of his life Kathleen Hardy in New York City. They married on February 28, 1945 and began their life together in Andover, New Jersey. They were married for 63 years and raised three daughters in Hobbs New Mexico. He was an electrician for Exxon and developed a farm in New Mexico. He spent over 30 years salmon fishing on Vancouver Island, Canada during the summers and dancing the nights away in Pharr, Texas during the winters. In addition to his parents and siblings he was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Brooks, sons-in-law Lupe Cordero and Dr. Donald Oglesby and grandsons Larry Brumley, Greg Brumley, and Jeff Stroud. Services for Clois Eugene (Gene) Brooks, 96, of Tyler will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 23, 2017 in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Andrew McConnell and Reverend Sherman Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow in Bascom Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family has requested that the PGR serve as pallbearers for Mr. Brooks at funeral home and cemetery. Military will be present. Services: 10:00 am, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. 215 East Front Street - Tyler, TX 75702 Staging: Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home from 8:00 am to 8:30 am with a riders meeting at 8:45 am. Flag line at 9:00 am Directions to the Bascom cemetery will be given by the Ride Captain. The Mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made. Sgt. Shawana LaGail Griffin Fludd was born July 3, 1960 in Tyler, TX to Harvey and Elsie Griffin. Shawana was the second born of their five daughters. She was the only child that was born at home. Shawana attended public school in Tyler ISD. She was an honorary member of the Jazzy Jewel Social Club affectionately known as “Big Jewel”. Shawana joined the Army after graduating high school. She retired after serving our country for 20 year Services: 11:00 am, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Houston Temple Church of God in Christ, 1815 N. Palace Ave. Tyler, Tx. 75702 under the direction of London"s Mortuary, Mineola, Tx. Staging: Houston Temple Church of God in Christ from 9:15 am to 9:45 amwith a riders meeting at 9:45 am. James Rickey Moss (37) U S ARMY December 23, 2017 Saturday Born: April 14, 1980 Died: December 19, 2017 His family has requested that the PGR be present at his services. The Mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made. Rickey was a loving father and husband who loved the Lord and his family. He loved hunting, fishing, knife making and his right to bear arms. He had a very tender heart. Sgt. Moss served in the Army and served 2 tours in Iraq. Sgt. Moss was awarded an Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Iraq Campaign Medal. Sgt. Moss was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James Henry Moss and Gladys Lavelle Moss along with maternal grandparents Arlen Leroy Smith and Lois Waggoner Smith.
