His family has requested that the PGR be present at his services. The Mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made.


Bobby B Brashear Jr, 71, of Jacksonville, passed away in his home on Sunday, January 7, 2018 after losing his battle with ALS. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 14th at 1pm at Boren Conner Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Bob was born to Bobby B Brashear, Sr and Anna Catherine Brashear on January 27, 1946. He attended Lorena High School in Lorena, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. Bob married Edie Curtis on June 20, 1964. Bob worked many years in the trucking industry, including Central Freight Lines, AAA Cooper and Averitt Express. Bob was a former member of The Knights of Columbus and Jaycees for many years as well as involved with the Catholic Youth Organization. Bob enjoyed working with youth and coached little league baseball for numerous years. Bob was an avid supporter of Lon Morris College and sponsored basketball team members from the Bahamas and various areas of the United States. Bob was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying and working on his airplane with his dad. He was a car enthusiast and loved tinkering with and painting vehicles for friends and family. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Catherine Squires Brashear of Waco and sister Anna Carline Maybin of Robinson. Survivors include: Bob's wife, Edie Brashear of Jacksonville, son Doug Brashear and wife Libby of Athens, son Rick Brashear and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville and father, Bobby B Brashear, Sr, of Robinson; Grandchildren include: Aaron Brashear, Cody Brashear, Joel Brashear, Savannah Cauley, Adam Brashear, Mason Brashear; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bobby Fuqua, Mike Best, Brad Stewart, Al Jouan, Justin Anderson, Don Beauchamp, Kenneth Gardner, Ed Gresham, Jesse Manzano, and Pepper Manzano. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Boren Conner Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Memorials may be made to The Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701. The family would like to especially thank Dr. James Low & staff, and The Hospice of East Texas for their loving care.

Sergeant Brashear served in the United States Air Force from 7 May 1963 to 6 May 1967 as a Air Policeman. Overseas service was 7 months, 29 days. His decorations include: Air Force Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award.
